82 - International Bauhaus Award 2006

As I announced in one of the previous post, before Easter I was in visiting Dessau Bauhaus building and the houses of the masters of Walter Gropius. In those days it was decided to "INTERNATIONAL BAUHAUS AWARD 2006", the award went to Stephan Weber and Michel Flasskamp. The contest was the creation of the director's house, one of the missing of the four houses of the teachers projected at the time. For the unaware, there are currently only two houses rebuilt and a half after a long, expensive and detailed reconstruction due to be included as a UNESCO World Heritage. The thing missing is the house itself was director of the Bauhaus, Walter Gropius, although the base of this house is as I found, they remained the stairs where Gropius is pictured in one of the few images that preserved. Currently on the basis of this house is built over and the winning proposal is to move this house to a solar Annex. Here you can find images included in the panels of the winners.

occasion of the exhibition "South Mills" attended yesterday's conference Diego Cano Pintos at the Royal Ordnance Factory in the district of San Bernardo Sevilla. First we must mention the possibility to discover inside this building, now in deshuso and closed by the Ministry of Defensa.Una produces amazing inside, with a spatial only achievable in these applications, and as most of this type of grim-looking industrial buildings by the lack of commitment to found. I personally these buildings with a feeling of nostalgia, perhaps because they are buildings that were remaining, but never again have the activity for which they were created, although the possibility of alternative uses as listed in the master plan prepared several years ago Cano Lasso the study leads us to have a glimmer of hope in the recovery of this part of the history of Sevilla.
The conference was very interesting with a quick review, but selected, industrial buildings and addressing the issue of possible re-occupation. And the presence of the eldest son of my admiration for Julio Cano Lasso made a little more special, although that's another story.
